First Gathering of Classic Ferraris by FOCM

Some rare, collectible Prancing Horses.

On a recent Sunday morning at Bangsar Village II, an exciting scene unfolded as a parade of classic Ferraris made a grand entrance at the shopping centre, creating quite a stir.

The dazzling line-up showcased an array of iconic models, including the V12 550m and Ferrari 575M Maranello ‘HGTC’, the elegant 328 GTS, the stylish 348 (known for drawing inspiration from the popular Testarossa), the sleek Mondial, the classic 308 GTB, its forerunner, the Dino 246 GTS, and a variety of 355s (Spider, GTS and Berlinetta) as well as 360s.

The collection of 22 classic Ferraris represented the first time that the Ferrari Owners’ Club Malaysia (FOCM) had organised a classic Ferrari drive in its 10-year history. The event revolving around the marque of the Prancing Horse was themed as the Caffè e Classico Drive.

This remarkable gathering featured 22 treasured classic Ferraris, marking a significant milestone as the Ferrari Owners’ Club Malaysia (FOCM) hosted its very first classic Ferrari drive in the span of its ten-year history. The event, aptly named the Caffè e Classico Drive, revolved around celebrating the illustrious heritage of the Prancing Horse marque.

During the event, both drivers and participants were treated to a fascinating presentation about the Ferrari Classiche certification program by Ital Auto, the official Ferrari importer and distributor for Malaysia.

The Ferrari Classiche programme stands as a testament to its commitment to preserving the authenticity of Ferrari’s road cars aged over 20 years. This unique certification and restoration service draws upon the wealth of knowledge stored within the complete Ferrari archives in Maranello. These meticulous records, encompassing technical details of every car produced since the brand’s inception in 1947, ensure that each vehicle is meticulously brought back to its original mechanical and aesthetic glory. This not only safeguards its historical significance but also contributes to the potential appreciation of its market value.

An awe-inspiring statistic that was shared highlighted the prominence of classic Ferraris in the automotive world: among the ten highest-priced cars ever sold at auctions, an impressive seven of them belonged to the esteemed lineage of classic Ferraris.
